Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.”
2 Corinthians 8:13-15 (NIV)

The Saint Paul Area Synod and the Iglesia Luterana Agustina de Guatemala have been global mission “Companions on the Journey” since 2005. Over those years, you have seen the growth and progress of the church and its educational ministries. As partners, you have heard the stories of people’s lives that have been changed and are being changed through the variety of educational ministries. Gifts to this year’s gala will support:

  • CLAG elementary school building: mortgage payment #4, renovations, and curricular materials;
  • Scholarships for teens and adults
  • Leadership development for pastors, lay leaders, trainings in theology and a focus on children and youth ministry in churches
  • Music ministry: workshop and instruments
  • Health ministry: training and supplies

The Mendakota Country Club in Mendota Heights will be our gala site this year, and there will be lots of room with its larger dining and social areas. The menu will again feature a delicious meal made with Chef Amalia’s recipes! A photo booth will be a new feature, (you will be able to send greetings to your ILAG partner church), and samples of Guatemalan coffee will be available. Visit with Pastor Beatriz Castillo (principal of the CLAG elementary school and the director of the Milagro Center) and with Diego Gil (ILAG’s partnership coordinator) during the social hour. After dinner, you will be able to listen to our featured guests’ messages!

Continue to watch for more information about the gala on the Guatemala Friends Facebook page, your own congregation’s communication channels and future emails.
