Bright Stars of Bethlehem presents “Room for Hope”: A Diyar Dance Theatre Production

Friday, May 4, 2012 - 7:30pm

Shepherd of the Valley, Apple Valley. Palestinian Dancers from Bethlehem will grace Shepherd of the Valley with their presence as part of Westminster Presbyterian Church’s Palestinian Art Festival. The mission of Diyar Dance Theatre is to revive and empower the cultural identity of young Palestinians through traditional and modern dance and theatre. The dance troupe, comprised of young men and women, is the only dance troupe in Bethlehem. There will be refreshments and Palestinian crafts for sale. Proceeds will go toward “The Minnesota Music Room” at Dar-al-Kalima College in Bethlehem.

What is a synod?

Offering

Within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), a synod is an administrative and missional geographic region, overseen by a bishop who provides direction to staff, a synod council, and volunteers from its congregations for vision, support, and resources to carry out mission and ministry. The Saint Paul Area Synod is one of 65 synods in the ELCA and the second largest in the number of baptized members.

Our synod is involved in local and global mission. Collaborative mission tables, mission renewal opportunities for congregations seeking to revitalize their ministry, companion synod endeavors, and supervision and mentoring for mission developers have sought to broaden partnerships among local congregations and the synod and spark and multiply mission opportunities.
