Interim Director of Children’s Music
The Director of Children’s Music is responsible for fostering the celebration of faith through music by performing the following duties. Primary responsibilitiesinclude: Leads and develops the Children’s Music Ministry (including choral and instrumental, ages pre-K through 5th Grade), establishing a strong collaboration with the Children’s Music volunteers; Selects, procures and prepares music appropriate to the skill level of the respective groups and the services assigned, including collaborating with Children’s Music volunteers in the selection of appropriate music; Coordinates the performance schedules of groups and individuals within the context of assigned service, event, or program; Purchases and prepares adequate copies of music for choral, ensemble group and worship participants maintaining strict adherence to copyright laws and licensing requirements; Coordinates the collection and purchase of Children’s music and maintains the appropriate music libraries; Collaborates with the Minister of Worship and Music in teaching new liturgy, music and/or cultural diversity as identified; Provides worship service information to and collaborates with support staff in a timely manner on worship folders and event publicity; Maintains positive ongoing collaborative working relationship with Minister of Worship and Music surrounding worship planning; Seizes education opportunities to develop and maintain skills, knowledge and trends in related worship and music topics and personal growth in leadership and
faith development; Serves as a role model for carrying out the mission, vision and ministries of SOLLC. Primary Qualifications include: Appreciation and acceptance of diverse music and worship styles and needs as defined within the SOLLC congregation; Knowledge and understanding of and experience in worship planning, Lutheran theology and vocal leadership and performance; Organizational skills especially in planning; Relational skills; Competency as vocal artist and musician; Minimal keyboard skills.
