Finance Director

Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Prior Lake is seeking a Finance Director. This is a 30 hour/week position with schedule flexibility.


This position supports the congregation and its ministry. It is primarily responsible for all finance and budget-related work on behalf of the congregation and its foundation. The Finance Director will:


  • Support the vision and mission of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church.
  • Be responsible for all accounting, purchasing, financial, and budget operations.
  • Supervise accounts receivable and accounts payable staff and process.
  • Prepare internal and external financial reports.
  • Coordinate year-end audit and work with outside auditors.
  • Coordinate the annual budget process.
  • Oversee the semi-monthly payroll, including annual W-2 reporting.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare and file quarterly sales tax returns.
  • Processes stock gifts and transfers.
  • Be a signer on all church bank accounts.
  • Review all bank account reconciliations.
  • Administrate Human Resource process.
  • Manage and maintain power of attorney for all banking processes, including checking, savings, loans, stock transfers, and safe deposit box and tax requirements.
  • Oversee the use of the church database’s financial applications.
  • Prepare reconciliations, contributor listings, and other reports as needed for year-end audit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Sr. Pastor.


A Bachelor's degree (B. A. / B. S.) from four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or related field, and related accounting or finance experience is required. A complete job posting can be found at:
